This type was struck after Kay Khusraw was defeated by the Mongols at the famous battle of Köse Dağ on 26 June 1243, which led to the subjugation of the Seljuk state by the Mongols. Kay Khusraw kept his throne, but he had to pay an annual tribute to his new overlords
